Uses of Xiidra Ophthalmic Solution
Xiidra is a prescription eye drop solution used to treat the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease (DED). It is not known if Xiidra is safe and effective in children under 17 years of age.
Precautions and Warnings
There are no contraindications to the use of Xiidra eye drops.
Follow all directions on your medicine label and package. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all your medical conditions, allergies, and all medicines you use.
Before you use Xiidra eye drops, tell your doctor if you:
- are using any other eye drops
- wear contact lenses
- are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if Xiidra will harm your unborn baby
- are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. It is not known if Xiidra passes into your breast milk. Talk to your doctor about the best way to feed your baby if you use Xiidra.
Xiidra is not approved for use by anyone younger than 17 years old.
Dosage
Recommended dosage
You’ll place one drop of Xiidra into each of your eyes twice daily. You should try to have your doses about 12 hours apart.
Each single-use vial of Xiidra holds enough medication to treat both eyes, and the vial should be disposed of after a single dose.

- eye discomfort,
- eye irritation,
- an unusual or unpleasant taste in the mouth
