Uses of Pentasa
Pentasa is a prescription medication used to treat ulcerative colitis in adults. It helps alleviate symptoms like inflammation and rectal bleeding. Belonging to the class of drugs known as aminosalicylates, Pentasa works by reducing colon swelling and addressing inflammatory bowel disease.
This medication is also available under its generic name, mesalamine.

Follow these steps:
- Shake the enema bottle thoroughly before use.
- Remove the cap from the applicator tip.
- You have two position options: lie on your left side with your left leg straight and right knee bent, OR assume the knee-chest position.
- Gently insert the applicator tip into your rectum.
- Slowly squeeze the enema to allow the medicine to flow.
- Stay in position for at least 30 minutes.
