Uses of Patanol
Patanol is a prescription antihistamine used to alleviate eye itchiness and redness caused by allergic reactions. It works by reducing histamines—chemicals in the body responsible for triggering watery and irritated eyes. Patanol is also known by its generic name, Olopatadine ophthalmic.
Patanol Precautions and Warnings
Before using Patanol, ensure you do not have a history of eye surgery or infections. If you do, consult your healthcare provider to confirm it is safe to use this medication. Avoid applying Patanol eye drops while wearing contact lenses.
Do not use Patanol if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, especially olopatadine. This medication is not recommended for children under two years old. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your healthcare provider before using this eye drop.
Patanol Dosage
To use Patanol eye drops, start by washing your hands thoroughly. Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions or use as needed.
When applying, tilt your head back and gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Hold the dropper above your eye and squeeze a drop into the pocket. Close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes to allow the drops to be fully absorbed. Repeat the process for the other eye if needed.
