Alzheimer's Disease

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder characterized by changes in the brain that lead to the accumulation of certain proteins, resulting in the shrinkage of the brain and eventual death of brain cells. It slowly destroys memory, thinking skills, and the ability to perform daily tasks. Symptoms typically appear in people in their mid-60s for the late-onset type, while early-onset Alzheimer’s can occur between a person’s 30s and mid-60s. The disease starts with mild memory loss and can progress to the point where individuals may struggle to carry on a conversation or respond to their environment. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia among older adults and affects millions of individuals worldwide.
