Alphagan eye drops are prescribed for managing glaucoma and elevated intraocular pressure. Glaucoma is a condition characterized by increased fluid pressure in the eye.
Glaucoma commonly results from fluid buildup within the eye. This occurs when the fluid does not drain as quickly as it is produced, leading to increased intraocular pressure. The persistent rise in pressure can harm the optic nerve, potentially causing gradual vision loss.
Often, this damage occurs so slowly that patients may not notice a decrease in vision until it becomes significant. Notably, even normal eye pressure can sometimes result in optic nerve damage.
Dosage
Administer one drop of Alphagan three times a day to the affected eye(s), spacing each dosage eight hours apart. If using multiple topical ophthalmic medications simultaneously to lower intraocular pressure, ensure to apply them at least five minutes apart.
